How CAPM certification varies from PMP certification?

Many people get confused about the difference between CAPM and PMP. Both the certifications are meant for project managers and are regulated under PMI, which is one of the best institutes for Project Managers. Eligibility Requirements for the CAPM Exam:

  • The applicants must have availed education to up to highs school at least.
  • The applicants must have professional work experience of at least 1500 hours to be able to apply for the CAPM certification. However, if they do not have the same, they can complete a 23 hour of CAPM course and thereafter appear for the certification exam without any prior experience.

Eligibility Requirements for the PMP Exam:

  • PMP certification applicants with a high school education need 5 years of work experience and 7500 hours of professional work before they can apply for the certification. Degree holders and people with higher qualifications need only 3 years of work experience and 4500 hours of professional work.
  • People with the above mentioned educational qualifications and work experience can thereafter appear for the 35-hour mandatory PMP course designed by PMI and apply for their PMP certification exam.

Both certifications play a major role in the professional field based on applicants’ work experience.
