PMP Prep Course – PMP Requirements

The project management professional certification requires key criteria to be fulfilled before appearing for the PMP exam. The PMP certification is an industry mandate and every project manager must be PMP certified. There are few critical aspects or pre-requisites that a candidate must fulfill need to write the PMP exam.

A process must be followed and the PMP Prep Course at Education Edge provides guidance and support to accomplish the task. It is a sequential process that involves multiple steps from confirming eligibility of an applicant to successfully passing the PMP certification.

The first step in the process is to ensure eligibility that entails A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or global equivalent), with a minimum of five years/60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks + 35 hours of project management education. Or, A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent), with a minimum of three years/36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks. + 35 hours of project management education.

If a candidate meets one of the above requirements, they can proceed to the next step of the PMP application process where you will provide details about your experience and formal training. The real work starts now as the mentors work closely with the applicants in completing the application and submitting it to PMI.

PMI reviews your application and if it is determined to be complete, PMI will send you an email to submit the exam fee. Your application approval is valid for one-year from the date you receive the approval email. After you pay for the exam, PMI will send you an email indicating one of the following next steps:

• Examination scheduling instructions to help you schedule your examination.

If you receive exam scheduling instructions, you can go ahead and schedule your exam with Prometric. If your application is selected for an audit, PMI will provide you the follow-up instructions to comply with the audit. This process is conducted during the PMP Prep Course which is a 6-week instructor led classroom training program. Candidates must take the PMP certification exam within twelve months of their application being approved. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions and lasts 4 hours.
